A sneak peak at MECA portrait project

On Friday afternoon, we published this piece about an interesting citywide art project a group of Maine College of Art students are working on. The story, which describes how the students are going to canvas Portland with portraits of everyday people then link to audio clips of those people talking about their visions for the new mayor on a companion website, includes a CGI rendering of how the portraits will look at the Baxter Building.

Well, there will be portraits across a range of sizes and locations, and the Baxter Building is just one example. Here’s a test installation put in late last week on an exterior wall of MECA’s downtown home, the old Porteous Building. This photo was sent my way by student Jacob Michaud, one of those organizing the project:
