Traffic alerts: Crews to work on pavement, railroad

Here are a couple of noteworthy announcements coming out of City Hall today regarding upcoming infrastructure work Portland motorists might want to plan around this week.

This announcement concerns paving work starting tomorrow:

Beginning tomorrow, November 15, and continuing through the week, crews will be conducting pavement repairs on Baxter Boulevard from Preble Street and Dartmouth Street, Payson Park, and Woodlawn Avenue between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Work is weather dependent. While the work is ongoing, commuters may want to seek an alternate route to avoid traffic and delays. Motorists are urged to watch out for bicyclists and pedestrians in these work zones.

Here’s one about railroad fixing due to take place later in the week:

This Thursday and Friday between the hours of 5 a.m. and 7 p.m., the railroad crossings on Congress Street and Frost Street will be reconstructed. The area will remain open to traffic however, traffic delays and noise should be expected. While the work is ongoing, commuters may want to seek an alternate route to avoid traffic and delays. Motorists are urged to watch out for bicyclists and pedestrians in these work zones.
