Heavy rains cause closure of Falmouth bridge

Here’s something that came in this afternoon from the Maine Department of Transportation:

Due to the heavy rains, the Lambert Street Bridge, along Blackstrap Road in Falmouth, will remain closed until further notice. Heavy current and debris are preventing crews from properly inspecting the pier footings of the structure.

“Jersey barriers” are being put in place this afternoon to prevent traffic from using the bridge for what is expected to be two to three days.
