Bridge closed after truck crash is now open again

For those of you who make it down as far as York, here’s an announcement today by the Maine Department of Transportation that’s worth a note:

The Sewalls’s Bridge in York is back open to traffic after a truck went through part of a guardrail late Sunday night, August 12th.

Because crews have installed heavy concrete barriers in place of the damaged guardrail, the posted weight limit on this bridge is now three tons.

This restriction will be in place until the scheduled major rehabilitation of the Sewall’s Bridge begins October 1st, when the bridge will be closed to all thru traffic.
