Portland jewelry retailer celebrates approval of same-sex marriage with engagement ring giveaway

TurtleLove.com, an online retailer of vintage and artisan jewelry based in Portland, announced Wednesday it plans to give away two vintage engagement rings, in part, out of jubilation in the aftermath of voter approval of same-sex marriage Tuesday.

Question 1, legalizing same sex marriage in Maine, passed at the polls with about 53 percent of the vote.

Said TurtleLove.com founder Adrienne Zahner in a statement:

Marriage equality is a principle that’s vitally important to turtlelove.com.  We are thrilled that same-sex couples in Maine will have the opportunity to marry.

Couples hoping to win the rings don’t necessarily have to be gays or lesbians, Zahner clarified. To get in the running, couples should send their love story and a photo to love@turtleloveco.com by Dec. 6.

On Dec. 10, the retailer plans to announce the giveaway winners.
