Ink & Pine podcast: Marijuana legalization efforts in Portland

Last week I unveiled the first episode of Ink & Pine, a podcast I’ve been working on with Dan Bodoff of Maine Digital Press and Dylan Martin of The Forecaster. In that episode, Dan and I talked at length with BDN Health Editor Jackie Farwell about the Affordable Care Act.

This week, we invited in David Boyer, Maine political director for the Marijuana Policy Project, one of the organizations advocating for the passage of a referendum in Portland that would legalize possession of less than 2.5 ounces of marijuana.

There was a lot to talk about with David: How does the Portland effort fit into the statewide legalization picture, and how does it compare to legalization efforts in Washington and Colorado? Click here to read a little bit more about the context and what other topics we discussed, as well as to listen to the show.

We constructed this podcast as a way for news readers and listeners to hear from subject matter experts about issues facing Portland and — in some cases, the larger state of Maine — in an in-depth interview setting that’s easily accessible. You can download this to a mobile listening device and take it with you in the car or to the gym, or you can listen through your computer while at home or work. It’s just another way for us in the BDN media family to get information into your brain.
