Seinfeld pays Portland restaurant a surprise visit. What follows is a story about nothing

Jerry Seinfeld is perhaps one of the world’s best-known comedians, having created and starred in his own long-running — and eponymous — sitcom, as well as his more recent web series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.”

So he was immediately recognizable when he showed up at Portland’s landmark restaurant DiMillo’s On The Water today around lunchtime.

Hostess Olivia DeWolfe confirmed the social media chatter about the famous comic’s appearance when reached at the venue shortly after he’d left.

“I think we knew that he was in town, but we didn’t know that he would be coming here, obviously,” she said. “Our server was a little surprised.”

Seinfeld’s in town for a performance tonight at Merrill Auditorium.

DeWolfe said Seinfeld came with a couple of guests and having him at the restaurant was “pretty neat.”

And that’s that. See? A story, basically, about nothing.
