In case you missed it, Mike McKenna, who’s won more games in a Portland Pirates jersey than any other goalie, this week posted a really thoughtful “goodbye” letter to the city in the wake of his team’s official move to Springfield, Massachusetts.

While the AHL’s Pirates — er, I mean, Springfield Falcons — have now moved on, one of the team’s former players and one of its former owners have pledged to bring another minor league hockey team to the city in time for the 2017-2018 season.
McKenna, who debuted with the Pirates during the 2007-2008 season and then returned for the most recent two seasons, came to love Portland so much he served as the local tour guide for a segment on Fox Sports (below).
